Sandwiched in between the cities of Chicago and Milwaukee and right at the Illinois/Wisconsin border is a magical place that transports all who enter back to 16th century England.
Welcome to the Bristol Renaissance Faire – where you’ll encounter knights jousting, royals and peasants parading around the 30-acres, rat catchers scurrying about, mystical creatures and of course, her royal highness Queen Elizabeth and her court.
This is the perfect place to escape for the day and relive this magical time. Come as you are or dress up to fit in with the locals. It’s such a fun place to see performances, comedy routines, jousting and run into strange characters at every turn of the dirt and gravel road.
On this particular day of our visit, there was an added Steampunk theme and so aside from Renaissance garb on actors and guests, there were those with their gadgets and gizmos and the ever-famous goggles on their head. The Steampunk look is really cool — maybe next time I’ll dress up
I have to thank Audrey, from Audrey Photo Design for sharing all her amazing photos she took during the day. Each one captured wonderful moments.
The faire only runs on the weekends from July to Labor Day and there are several around the country. If you are ready to be transported back in time, give the Renaissance Faire a try — you and your friends and families will have a wonderful time! And be sure to grab a turkey leg!
